A nice advert for the old Hotel des Colonies on the Rue du Consulat (Jingling Road now though the hotel is long gone) in Frenchtown showing its rather sumptuous interior….

Regarding the advert for the old Hotel des Colonies, could you tell me what date, and which publication it is advertised?

I am very interested in the Western style interior of the late 19th & early 20th century China, Korea, and Japan.

Sorry, don’t have a date or a publication for this picture – it came to me totally randomly.
I’m guessing circa WW1 though – sorry for lack of precision – Paul

    Hi everybody

At the end of 19th century this hotel was run by my grand grand father Paul Briol and his wife Marguerite.
My grand mother Anais Julie Briol was born there.

They left around 1900 but the hotel went on.
