A New Bio of Singapore
Posted: November 14th, 2009 | No Comments »Singapore has long deserved a good new biography. There are some now long out of print ones as well as the official ones lauding nothing but praise on Lee Kwan Yew as well as a bunch of bios of Raffles, but nothing readable and all-encompassing. Mark Ravinder Frost and Yu-Mei Balasingamchow’s (and you’d have to search hard to find two more Singaporean style names than those!) new Singapore: A Biography looks like it might well hit the spot. It just landed on my desk so I haven’t had a chance to read it yet but the cover alone looks like the sort of gallimaufry I like. It comes well recommended by Lynn Pan, a lady who knows a good read when she sees one and has a lot of images too. More once I’ve ploughed through it.
