Got asked that question the other day in an interview so thought I’d share….it is, of course, Harold Acton’s Peonies and Ponies, which is long overdue a new reprint in case anyone with publishing power is reading this….

    you may know this already, but it looks like Acton’s papers are at the Beinecke @Yale, and include the unpublished mss of his collection of popular Chinese Plays (which maybe someone could be convinced is worth putting out in some context now): http://www.pkuen.com/home.php?mod=space&uid=52&do=blog&id=31
