Posted: January 31st, 2010 | No Comments »Nowadays GE works hard to foist sub-German ‘sleek’ designs on people the world over. Thanks to the likes of GE and IKEA etc everybody’s home looks like everybody elses and we’re all supposed to want to be Scandanavians (I for one do not – they can keeep their blonde woods, herring balls and ‘look at me I’m a Euro-intellectual’ angular specs). Anyway, GE used to design up rather more interesting products with a bit of west and east mixed together for the Shanghailander to light up his porch. This ad from the 1920s.
