A Bit More on Limehouse Blues

Posted: November 17th, 2009 | No Comments »

Thought I’d add a bit more on Limehouse Blues.

Having mentioned the song Limehouse Blues there appear to be a few versions on the internet including a number on Youtube (which I can’t check as it’s blocked here in China)

The film was re-released in America as East End Chant – presumably the geographic knowledge  of many Americans was not thought to extend to Limehouse.

George Raft started out in Hell’s Kitchen as a taxi dancer which is sort of interesting

The film was of course made in Hollywood and the cast never ventured anywhere near E14

The token Asian star was of course Anna May Wong – and this gives me an excuse to put up a picture of her I came across recently – this was one of those official Hollywood starlet photos sent out by the studios as publicity shots and she looks as great as ever.
