Chinese Labour Corps III
Posted: December 21st, 2008 | No Comments »After posting a couple of times on the Chinese Labour Corps I’m delighted that a reader informs me that the US-based academic Xu Guoqi has apparently done a major study in Chinese (and French) and is writing up a book in English on the CLC. Xu wrote the excellent China and the Great War (Cambridge UP 2005), a few years back which also has a section on the CLC. I look forward to Xu’s book.
In the meantime – given that, as I’ve noted before, this year (now almost over) is the 90th anniversary of the Armistice I’m hoping more p
eople become aware of the CLC that operated for both the French and the British in WW1. Here’s a few pics of them:
